Challenging mountain tours that are worthwhile!
The Löffler – challenging 3,000 m peak in the Ahrntal valley
THE VIEW IS WORTH IT!
After a tour of 10.5 hours and climbing 1,990 meters in altitude, you reach the top of the Löffler in Steinhaus. Depending on the conditions, you hike over snow or rock (block climbing), sometimes very steeply, up to the summit.
You start near the Stallila snack station in St. Johann, which you can reach by car. At the top, you can enjoy breathtaking views over the valley.
Please note: Tour only recommended with a mountain guide!
From Luttach to the Kreuzkofel
AN EXCITING HIKE FROM THE VALLEY TO THE VERY TOP!
From Luttach, hike into the valley to the nearest village of St. Johann. From there, follow trail no. 19 to the edge of the village and then follow a farm access road slightly uphill to a parking lot in the lower Trippachtal valley. It is also possible to get here by car.
From there you hike to the Kegelgassalm (2,109 m) and on the open mountain slope, which is occasionally equipped with climbing aids, up to the southern ridge of the Kreuzkofel and easily up to the summit (2,420 m). You will reach your destination in 7 hours after a 12 km hike.
The breathtaking Stabeler Höhenweg
A CHALLENGING CIRCULAR ROUTE THAT PROMISES BREATHTAKING VIEWS.
It takes eleven hours to walk the impressive high route in the Ahrntal Valley; the 13-km-long Stabeler Höhenweg is a high alpine trail for experienced hikers, with short sections even a via ferrata.
From Weißenbach, the route leads through the Trattenbachtal valley up to the Gögealm (2,027 m) and continues on foot to the Chemnitzer Hütte, where you can also spend the night if necessary. Then take the path with the high-altitude trail marking 24 A (partly only path tracks, partly narrow mountain trail) up to the Gelenkscharte (2,724 m). Then eastwards partly along a steel cable over boulders for a long way down to Sandrain. Now another long ascent to the “Zu Törla” saddle (2,704 m) and finally over boulders and a short rocky ridge (wire rope) down to the moraine area, where the Stabelerweg joins the path leading to the Schwarzensteinhütte.
The descent from the aforementioned junction of the Stabelerweg trail is always on trail 23 steeply down to the Daimeralm through the Rotbachtal valley down to Luttach.
