Rosi’s sweet berry garden
“My favorite fruit? – The raspberry!”
Hostess Rosi takes great joy in cultivation
Our fields are used exclusively for feeding the animals, the meadows can be mowed three times a year. The grass is air-dried and later stored as hay in the barn to supply the animals during the winter months. No fruits are grown here, but Rosi has created her own little berry garden, which she cares for with great passion. Her favorite are the many raspberries.
“Our small raspberry plantation of the Glen Ample variety (often referred to as the ‘children’s raspberry’ because the plant has no thorns. It ripens early and has large fruits) provides us with delicious raspberries, which are processed into syrup and fruit spreads, bringing joy to our guests at breakfast.”
Currants – sour delights
Sweet memories of the sour berries
The currants have a slightly sour taste but make an excellent fruit spread and syrup. All types – but especially black currants – contain antioxidants and a lot of vitamin C.
“Red currants taste relatively sour.” However, host Rosi loves the sour berries and fondly remembers her childhood with a book under the currant bushes.
Black currants, on the other hand, have a relatively mild taste, somewhat similar to blueberries. If you don’t like too sour fruits, then black currants are the better choice for you.
Mmmh…delicious strawberries
Sweet treats from the garden – straight to the breakfast plate
Some strawberries can also be found in Rosi’s garden, usually used for fresh fruit salad in the morning!
Strawberries simply taste delicious – but not only that. They contain more immune-boosting vitamin C than oranges. Nutrition experts have long used them for treating anemia due to their high content of folic acid and iron. The high calcium content protects bones from osteoporosis, while potassium and magnesium protect the heart. Additionally, strawberries contain salicylic acid, which helps alleviate symptoms of gout and rheumatism. Phytochemicals from the phenolic acid group protect against cancer and help prevent arteriosclerosis.
